Young people sought to participate in National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program

Do you know someone who has dropped out of high school and is between the ages of 16-18? Then, read on because they can benefit from the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program!

The mission of the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is to intervene in and reclaim the lives of at-risk youth to produce program graduates with the values, skills, education and self-discipline necessary to succeed as adults. The third class of this program will start on Sunday, July 13, 2014. There is still time to enroll students—as of 6/19, they have room for 39 plus more eligible teens (12 girls and 27 boys).

The teens enrolled must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Committed to making a change in their life.
• A citizen or legal resident of the United States and a resident of the District of Columbia.
• 16 to 18 years of age on the first day of admission.
• A high school drop-out or at risk of dropping out or seriously behind in credits. (Good candidates are those who have been identified as over aged and under credit)
• Voluntary (student wants to be here)
• Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of completing the program.
• Drug Free: Students will be drug tested. This test will be conducted 40 – 45 days into the program. Those who fail this test will be sent home.
• No felony adjudications or felony convictions, awaiting trail, or currently in trial proceedings. We can accept those with misdemeanors.
