  • Contest winners will be judged on: creativity (30%), originality (30%), relevance to theme "Reduce Reuse Repurpose" (30%), use of found objects and legumes (10%)
  • The drop-off and judging schedule will be available at www.dcstatefair.org/event-details
  • There will be a prize for each age group and the winners may be displayed on the Kid Power DC and DC State Fair websites as well as other Fair-related venues
  • Judging groups are Grades K-3, Grades 4-6, and Grades 7-9

What ARE legumes, anyway?
A Legume (French) is a plant, seed, or fruit. Practically, what this means is that legumes are beans or seeds. Examples of legumes are kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans, lima beans, black-eyed peas, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), split peas, and lentils.
